Some of the poker tournament strategy that is adopted can turn one to an underdog to any kind of hand that an opponent can hold.  This can possibly be true with calling hands like A-10 where the rest of the table folds in a no limit holdem and the opponent have been making all the raises from under the gun. This is the time when one must rather decide to fold than risk some more stakes making the play worse than ever. Out of position hands should be folded despite all the huge stakes that has already been invested, the least that one can do is to prevent any further loss.

Contradictorily, the poker tournament strategy for A-10 big blind position is like a festival in a different planet.    A big blind A-10 with someone raising from under the gun would be after one round of the play in the table is almost over and the A-10 blind can look in to who are still heads up, with the raise from under the gun need not mean any panic because they might rarely have an Ace to raise with.

A-10 need not really keep one out of position all the time; it depends upon what the table image is and what probably is the table image of the opponent that is raising;  consideration of table image is one important poker tournament strategy that most players fail to consider.

Popularly players that do not play considering the table image are those that play only monstrous and big hands.  Assumingly, most of such category tends to be tight players.  When dealing with such players if some tight betting is placed against them, they do not fold with AA or KK for that reason.  If the said opponent is going to be KK, then an aggressive betting can make them lay believing that there could be a pocket AA with the aggressive bettor. Make believe fake good hands is a poker tournament strategy that can make tight players with really good hands to fold, but the bluffing may not work if they are probably sitting with the AA!

If the bluff code that is employed as a poker tournament strategy gets cracked, like if A spade was faked then in the flop or the turn if A spade turns up, then the opponent will realize all of that was a drama and especially if the player is tight with a good hand, they are not going to leave the table.
